ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Who do you design for and what is your style?
I'm currently a freelance designer, creating surface pattern designs for smaller clients.
I'm new to the surface pattern design world, but I've always had a love for the fabrics I was surrounded by growing up (thanks to a family of quilters.) The retro fabrics of the 50's, 60's and 70's that my grandma had made a big impression on me, and that style finds its place in some of my own creations.
What inspires you?
English gardens, the flora and fauna of the west coast, weeding through linens looking for vintage treasures in the local thrift shop. Old illustrated gardening and plant identification books always have great ideas in them, too!
What do you love about being a designer?
Experimenting with endless colours and patterns: I love playing with colour schemes. I could spend hours at a time on coolors.co.
The research before a project is always exciting too: I love any excuse to get into a thrift store and the excitement of never knowing what inspiration might jump out at me.
Where can you be found/what are you doing on your days off?
On days off I love to get outside and hit up farmers markets or get into nature. I'm an explorer at heart and can't help but stop and smell (and then draw) the roses.
