ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Who do you design for and what is your style?
I enjoy working in a variety of mediums to create the necessary look for any given market, from children's, to paper goods, to apparel, to home decor. My personal style has been described as bold, though I'm drawn to many different aesthetic niches, and I love working in all areas.
What inspires you?
I am constantly looking for inspiration for design ideas from the world around me: on streets, in gardens, and in wild spaces. I like to walk, so I carry my camera with me at all times to document anything I might run across that strikes me. Every leaf, flower, animal, and building holds potential as a vehicle for creativity in design. I even see designs in my dreams, so I make sure there is a notebook and a pen on my nightstand ready for whatever wild idea has dropped in my head. I see stories in everything, and I develop my designs with those stories in mind.
What do you love about being a designer?
I thrive on creativity whether it's through designing, writing, or crafting. These have been lifelong interests, since I first started studying the wallpapers and decor in my grandparents' house when I was a child. I love studying color and form and putting ideas to paper. The world is our playground as designers.
Where can you be found/what are you doing on your days off?
I can usually be found writing, reading, or working outside in my garden. I visit museums frequently, an activity which is another form of inspiration. Playing with my cats is a favorite pastime, and I find cooking and listening to music relaxing.
