ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Who do you design for and what is your style?
I have been a freelance Illustrator/Designer for many years. I have designed for Papyrus stores and I have a Spoonflower shop. I have produced many greeting cards and have done editorial as well as advertising Illustration. I am currently represented by Art Licensing International and have contracts out for garden flags, puzzles, wall art and fabrics. I have also done paintings on surfboards. I teach an online class for the San Francisco Academy of Art in Illustration for Consumer Products and licensing.
What inspires you?
My inspiration comes from nature, I love flowers, birds, the ocean and the mountains. I take photos whenever I travel and love to photograph textures and details in buildings and objects. I get inspiration from other artists as well. I am drawn to Art Deco and Nouveau styles, but also love many contemporary artists.
What do you love about being a designer?
I love designing and have always had a need to create art and designs. I like the freedom of working on my own although I have had the past pleasure of working as a staff Illustrator at a licensing firm as well as the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. I would like to see more of my surface pattern designs on products going forward.
What else would you like us to know about you?
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, Pleasant Hill, which is in the East Bay. I am married with two sons, both in college. My husband, Michael works in San Francisco. We love where we live as it is easy to get to the mountains, the ocean and the city. I was born and raised in Palo Alto, Ca. and have always had a great love of art and design.
