ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Who do you design for and what is your style?
I create fresh, modern designs with a sophisticated color palette using hand-drawn and painted elements that are available for licensing or purchase for a wide range of markets and products.
What inspires you?
My primary inspirations are nature, color, and texture. Whether it be a wrought iron architectural element, a ceramic pot, a dried seed pod, or a piece of wood, I am always drawn to texture and looking for ways to incorporate it into my designs. I was originally a weaver creating handwoven and hand-dyed textiles and have carried that love of texture and color into my pattern design work.
What do you love about being a designer?
I love being able to take an idea or image in my mind and create something tangible, beautiful, and functional out of it. It's like magic! I also love the process of working alone in my studio, listening to music, and letting the creative juices flow. And getting to work with color is like icing on the cake.
What else would you like us to know about you?
I find nature very soothing and inspiring, so in my off time I can often be found walking my dog in one of Seattle's gorgeous parks, hiking in the mountains, or lying in the grass with my nose in a book. I also love to dance (salsa and country swing) as a more physical creative outlet. And I'm a big fan of live music so try to get out to see local bands play fairly often.
