Freelance Graphic & Surface Pattern Designer
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Who do you design for and what is your style?
I design bold, colourful, modern, geometric based prints and patterns that use hand drawn, painted and computer illustrated elements and are available for licencing or purchase for a wide range of markets and products.
What inspires you?
Colour, I am a brightly-coloured designer nerd after all, texture and shape and I find inspiration for these in a huge range of places; from artist and designers like Brigitte Riley, Saul Bass and Henri Matisse to my local environment in patterns of brickwork, man made structures and nature plus I love my local junk store!
What do you love about being a designer?
I love problem solving and using design to create workable, aesthetically pleasing solutions. It's a joy to be able to take a blank sheet of paper and turn it into something beautiful and useable, to lift something ordinary into the extraordinary and brighten, enrich and add colour to even the tiniest parts of people's lives.
Where can you be found/what are you doing on your days off?
Even when I have days off my brain doesn't really switch off so I am often found in art galleries or museums soaking up the rich visual treats, visiting craft fairs or shops seeking inspiration. If I really want to get away from it all I go for a run or head for the beach or the woods. I also love live music and sport so try to get to gigs and matches as often as I can.
