We made a big splash as we introduced ourselves to the community of artists, art buyers, manufacturers and others in the surface pattern design industry. The artists were thrilled to know that a support community like the SPDG exists for them. The art buyers and manufacturers were pleased to see that our website offers a one stop shop for finding artistic talent. Thanks to all our members who got their member profiles up before the show. It really helped us show the diversity and professionalism of our members! For those of you who have not, now is a great time to get yours set up since many art buyers will be visiting our site.
We signed up quite a few new members and gave out postcards to many potential members. The art buyers also got their own postcards from us with a complete contact listing of all our members. A few of our booth visitors were also interested in being future speakers at our monthly guild meetings.
West Coast members, Pamela Farmer, Dayse Gagne and Jill Turney were excited to meet our East Coast volunteers and our German volunteer who were awesome at working the booth. A big thank you goes out to Dayse Gagne, Kim Cooper, Kali Kurtz Odessa Begay, and Anna London for volunteering and for being such great ambassadors for the guild.
The last day of the show, Pamela and Jill met with the organizers of the Surtex show. They wanted to find out more about the guild and to talk more about how we can benefit each other in the future. We will be continuing the discussion in the coming months.
And last, but definitely not least, without the help and support and the donations we received, this event would not have happened. The steering committee wishes to thank everyone for their contributions...THANK YOU!
Bill Cummings and Pat West
And a special thanks goes out to our seasoned Surtex exhibitors,
Carol Van Zandt and Jeannene Langford, for offering such great
advice on how to set up our booth and how to successfully work the show.
