Our latest designer interview had me globetrotting to Madrid, Spain. Okay....I didn't actually make it to España (wishful thinking!), but I did connect with one of its hippest surface pattern designers, Mónica Muñoz of Moniquilla. Mónica wears multiple hats, including pattern designer, illustrator, and graphic designer. She also wears (and makes) beautiful scarves!
¡Gracias por la entrevista, Mónica!
What inspirational places would you recommend a designer visit on a trip to Spain?
I live in Madrid, where millions of places can be found for inspiration. I personally recommend Thyssen-Bornemisza and Modern Art Reina Sofía museums.
Walking around Madrid’s old city or Malasaña neighborhood are musts. There you can find trendy stores and cafes with a very appealing look.
Please give us a description of your studio. What do you love about it the most?
I work at home, where I have a dedicated room with gorgeous natural light. My apartment is the attic with a little balcony, and sometimes I go out and work surrounded by my flowers and plants.
The fourth issue of surface pattern design magazine Moyo is out now and it's all about paper! This open publication is brought to you by the wonderful folks at Do What You Love and they have generously made it available to read for free.
