We wanted to give you a heads-up on a couple of exciting meetings coming your way.
Have you been wanting to expand your knowledge about using computers in your surface pattern design work? On Monday, March 19, we will have an experienced panel of members presenting tutorials in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. We have a great line-up so far: alternative ways to create product design; creating line art from a photo; how to use the “draw inside” technique in Illustrator; and many more! You’ll be able to pick up some great tips related directly to surface design!
Have you ever wanted to get your design work critiqued by an agent in the surface pattern design industry? Here's your chance! At our April meeting on the 9th, we’ll be featuring "an interactive critique night with industry veteran Teliha Draheim of Image West Designs. Teliha has been involved in the textile industry as Designer, Art Director, and Marketing Specialist. A Designer Licensing Agent for 14 years, Teliha has established relationships with major Bay Area and Fortune 500 companies. She also creates her own design work, offers seminars in the business of surface design, and provides consulting services to designers.
At our April meeting, Teliha will be reviewing surface design work brought in by participating members and providing her professional opinion on each piece and its marketability. Next week, we will have initial sign-ups for showing work at the April meeting. Please start thinking about your work (or create new work!) and which pieces you would like to have reviewed. This will be a very rare opportunity to have your work evaluated in a supportive, non-business setting.
Watch for our sign-up announcement next week!
