“Print Workshop” is a terrific read for any surface pattern designer who wants to incorporate hand-printing methods into his or her work. Christine Schmidt, owner of Yellow Owl Workshop, presents the techniques and media required for various types of block, stencil, sun, and image transfer printing and walks the reader through each method.
The step-by-step instructions for every project are clear and concise, and provide the perfect jumping off point to creating your own designs. Schmidt’s fun, lively writing and designing styles set my imagination in flight. I’m particularly drawn to the stamp-making projects, and I can’t wait to create my own designs using these methods.
The book includes templates, a detailed glossary, a complete equipment list, and sections on setting up your studio, design and color basics, and resources. Check out Yellow Owl Workshop and take a look at all the goodies there, including this book, and her other book, "Yellow Owl’s Little Prints: Stamp, Stencil, and Print Projects to Make for Kids".
