ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Who do you design for and what is your style?
I aim to design for various markets. My style as a designer is presently in the state of emerging and growth.
My style is somewhat eclectic because I like contemporary and simplistic, brights and bold, soft and feminine, and sometimes complex... I enjoy experimenting with different looks and textures. I believe in creating designs that people would find pleasing to the eye and useful for their ideas and tastes, no matter the style.
What inspires you?
Anything that catches my eye and stirs up an idea for a collection. For me, inspiration can come from anywhere.... a color palette or picture I see on Pinterest or on the Internet, something in nature I see out during my evening walk, something or someone I see during my work hours in the city. Also, I am inspired by the works of other pattern designers... I learn from them. They are my teachers without them knowing they are my teachers.
What do you love about being a designer?
I love the creative energy and freedom that I feel when designing. When I design, I know I am bringing a part of ME into the world. I love the process I go through when creating a collection... thinking, creating, drawing, creating color palettes, sometimes researching pictures online to create a mood board, working the designs in Illustrator, Photoshop and Inkscape. Working on a collection with the customer in mind and being able to have customers purchase designs from the collection.
What else would you like us to know about you?
I enjoy evening walks outdoors, I love Hong Kong (because I use to live there), I enjoy travel and learning new cultures. A good card game with family or friends is something I enjoy. Also, I love good food, good company, good conversation and a really good laugh.
